International Vice President Gary Rauen Gary Rauen represents Local 1395 from the International. He is the Chief Negotiator for contract negotiations. Gary has negotiated contracts for ECAT, PBT, BCC, and Laidlaw (now known as First Student). He has developed relationships with all properties and their Management. He has the respect of every Manager as he has respect for them. Local Union President Mike Lowery first met Gary Rauen when he assisted the organizing campaign for the BCC workers in 2000. Since then Mike and Gary have developed a position working relationship. "I trust Gary and know that his 30 years of experience are a true asset to the success of Local 1395", stated Mike Lowery. Gary was born in Wisconsin, and was a Local Union President for 20 years in Binghamton, New York. He was active with the New York State Legislative conference board as well. In 1998 Gary was appointed to the International as a Special Organizer by then President Jim LaSala. Later Gary was promoted to International Representative by current International President Warren S. George. The Florida delegation consisting of Locals 1197-Jacksonville, 1267-Ft. Lauderdale, 1395-Pensacola, 1464-Tampa, 1577- West Palm Beach, 1579-Gainesville, 1593-Tampa, 1596-Orlando, 1700-Sarasota, and 1749-Orlando who use Gary to assit their Local Unions came together and lobbied International President Warren S. George to promote Gary to International Vice President. In 2006 Gary was appointed by President George. In September 2007 Gary was elected by the delegates of the 53rd Convention to a three year term. Gary credits his relationship with Local 1395 as the true beginning to his success as an International officer. Local 1395 was successful with Gary in a 9 month organizing campaign against the BCC. Then Gary was successful in obtaining 1st time contracts for the BCC and Laidlaw properties. Now Local Unions throughout the U.S. use Gary to assist their Local Unions.
