ECAT VP Larry Smith

burned in accident in ECAT Maintenance facility

-------------------------------------------

ATU Local 1395 ECAT VP Larry Smith who is a Mechanic was burned by steam about two weeks ago while working on an ECAT bus.  Larry had burns on his left arm and chest area.  He was transported to Mobile, Alabama to the Burn Center where he spent about 3 days receiving treatment.  We're glad to report he is back home and recovering from the accident.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Brother Larry.  Get well soon Larry, we miss you.

The labor contracts between ECAT and ATU 1395 have been ordered and will be finalized soon and go to print by Union printer Ray Anthony Printer out of Tampa Florida.

The hold up was that a copy of the signature page and two side agreements plus the UWF Trolley MOU had to be sent for Ray Anthony to add to the new labor contract.

It will be soon - copies will be passed out right away to bargaining unit members!

UPDATE - Contracts are in - you'll receive them soon 8/1/08

Local 1395 President Mike Lowery was invited to attend and is able to bring 3 other officers.  President Lowery selected; Senior VP Mike Scott, VP-representing ECAT Larry Smith, and Chief Shop Steward Queenie Brown.

Lowery has asked me to give a detailed report of the conference to the membership at the April Regular Business Meeting.  So be looking out for my report.

ECAT VP Larry Smith

Larry Smith who was re-elected unopposed last November has been tied up in contract negotiations.  "Larry is our go to guy during negotiations" states Union President Mike Lowery.  He takes fantastic notes and he scans every proposal and document.  Larry clearly takes his role serious.  Union President Mike Lowery is the chief negotiator, Former Financial Secretary/Treasurer Gerri Bell is the assistant negotiator, and Larry is the note taker and word smith.

Plus Larry's job is leading the proposals for Shop employees at ECAT.

Be looking for Larry to post and have articles on this site in the near future.
